nformation Technology (IT) - Tips
- In Windows Explorer, it is possible to "Drag and Drop" a file or folder to
another location. For safety it
is a good idea to enable a verification message
whenever this happens, to make sure that it really is
intended to move the file or folder to its new location.
This setting is available in "Internet Explorer" and
is selected from Tools, Internet Options, Security,
Local Intranet, Custom, Drag and Drop or Copy and
Paste Files, Prompt.
The other zones can also be set to Prompt. However the main
zone of interest is Zone 0, which is "My Computer". For
Windows 2000, this zone is usually not listed in Internet Explorer, so
it has to be updated using the registry.
Unfortunately, while that does work in Windows 2000, drag and drop prompt does not seem
to work in Windows XP. Also I have not yet investigated how to do this in Windows 10.
